
The port not only make a positive contribution to the area's economy
through its services, but provides jobs for area residents and
generates significant revenue for the local economy as well as to the
State of Michigan. The Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program, provides DBEs with the
maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of contracts and
subcontracts financed in whole or in part with or without federal
funds.
The majority of The Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority purchases are made through a comprehensive system of specifications and competitive bidding. This process ensures that contracts for cupplies or services will be awarded to the lowest, most responsive, responsible bidder who complies with the specifications, terms and conditions, and has the capacity to deliver the service or product to the Port Authority
