An invite-only event for select friends of the DWCPA have been invited to attend an informational reception highlighting the exciting events of the past summer, with a preview of upcoming events, job creation and initiatives for the new year.

Season activities and ship schedule for Port Detroit

 

The Port is at 130 E. Atwater St., located between the Renaissance Center and Hart Plaza.  Public parking is available at the Miller Parking Garage located across Atwater Street.   Events are subject to change. The DWCPA will do its best to update this page in order to provide timely information.

 

JUNE 22

The sailing schooner Appledore lV is scheduled to arrive at Port Detroit Dock in the morning for the Detroit River Days festival.

 

JUNE 23

Detroit River Days will continue with the arrival of the cruise ship Yorktown Clipper at 6 a.m. She will disembark passengers at the dock, embark new passengers and depart at 7 p.m.

 

JUNE 25 

The Detroit Target Fireworks will begin at 10:06 p.m. in front of the DWCPA Public Dock and Passenger Terminal.

 

JUNE 28 

Michigan Agricultural Business will conduct the Michigan Waterway Transportation Symposium at the DWCPA. Port Authority Chairman Louis James will offer welcoming remarks at 8:30 a.m. and speak on building new infrastructure to ship Michigan farm products from Port Detroit.

 

JULY 7

The cruise ship Yorktown Clipper will arrive at 6 a.m.. She will disembark passengers for local tours, embark new passengers and depart at 7 p.m.

 

JULY 10-11

The DWCPA will host the American Association of Great Lakes Port Authorities Summer Conference at the Marriott Hotel and DWCPA Passenger Building. Chairman Louis James will give welcoming remarks.

The cruise ship Yorktown Clipper will arrive at 6 a.m. She will disembark passengers for local tours, embark new passengers and depart at 7 p.m.

AUGUST 8 

Arrival of the cruise ship Grand Mariner at 7 p.m. Local tours are planned the next morning.

 

AUGUST 9 

The Grand Mariner will depart at noon.

 

AUGUST 11

The cruise ship Yorktown Clipper will arrive at 6 a.m. She will disembark passengers for local tours, embark new passengers and depart at 7 p.m.

 

AUGUST 25

The Yorktown Clipper will arrive at 6 a.m., disembark passengers for local tours, embark new passengers and depart at 7 p.m.

 

SEPTEMBER 5-10

The port will celebrate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 with U.S. Navy Days-Detroit. Visiting will be the U.S. Brig Niagara, a restored warship that played a key role in the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813; the Pride of Baltimore, a reproduction of a classic topsail schooner; the USS De Wert, an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate; the fabled Mackinaw, a U.S. Coast Guard ice breaker that plied the Great Lakes for 62 years; and the USNSCS Gray Fox, a naval cadet training ship. Arrival times for the ships are not set yet.

 

SEPTEMBER 8

The Yorktown Clipper will arrive at 6 a.m., disembark passengers for local tours, embark new passengers and depart at 7 p.m.

 

SEPTEMBER 10

Departure of the U.S. Navy ships.

 

OCTOBER 16

The Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority will host the Council of Development Finance Agencies, Michigan Finance Roundtable:
